History

Udinese Calcio was founded in 1896. At first, it dealt with gymnastics, and only in 1911 was a football section established.

Development and success The club competed in the lower leagues for many years before being promoted to Serie A. It won its bigger trophy in 1980, the Mitropa Cup.

Recent decades: Udinese has been a regular in Serie A, the top league in Italy, since the 1990s. The club became famous for excellent scouting and developing young talents.
